Facebook has recently announced that they will be investing more in their creator community. Over the next 18 months, Facebook will spend more than $1 billion in programs to help creators find more ways to earn money through the content they share on the platform.
According to Facebook:
“From artists to style experts and budding entertainers, creators drive so much of the passion and creativity we see across our apps. As we continue building creative tools like Live Audio Rooms and Bulletin, as well as monetization products like Stars and affiliate, we also want to reward creators, especially those who are just starting out, for creating content their communities love.”
The purpose behind all of this is to help Facebook compete with other popular platforms like TikTok. If Facebook can draw more big creators to use their platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube) then they will bring their audiences along with them. One of the new initiatives is Facebook’s bonus programs for both Facebook and Instagram. Certain engagement milestones are set and creators are rewarded when they meet them. Since these programs are still in the beginning stages, these are invitations only.
