Instagram Launches New Co-Watching Feature to Help Users Connect Amid COVID-19 Lockdowns
According to an article on Socialmediatoday.com, Instagram is adding a co-watching feature, “To help people stay connected, we’ve launched media sharing and that allows you to view Instagram posts together with your friends over video chat. You can start a video chat by tapping the video chat icon in the Direct inbox or in an existing Direct thread, then view saved, liked and suggested photos/videos by tapping the photo icon in the bottom left corner in an ongoing video chat.”
Alongside the co-watching feature, Instagram has also added the Stay Home sticker which when attached to a story or post will show others who are also practicing social distancing.
TikTok Pledges 10 Million to Support Global Health Workers
The social media platform posted: “We believe it’s essential to do everything we can to help the global health community in this fight, and today TikTok is donating $10 million to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Solidarity Response Fund.”
Outside the app itself, TikTok is continuing to support health care workers. They had the donation to the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and are also matching employee donations to Direct Relief to provide essential medical items for health workers responding to coronavirus.
They also helped procure masks for heavily impacted hospitals, including in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York and supported #CelebrateDoctors which recognizes the heroism of healthcare professionals who are battling on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis all over the world.
Furthermore, In partnership with TikTok, World Health Organization has been posting educational videos, live information sessions and a #SafeHands challenge that encourages people to wash their hands. For the latter, tagged videos have racked up 2.6 billion views and counting.
LinkedIn Provides Free Job Posts For Critical Medical Organizations
To help with the fight, LinkedIn is offering free job posts for critical organizations who need to quickly find skilled workers to fill critical roles. In a post on their platform they stated: “It’s the least we can do to support those of you who are working tirelessly for all of us.” Here are some of the details:
Between April 1, 2020 and June 30, 2020:
- Eligible organizations can post free jobs on LinkedIn. Offer details.
- All jobs posted in these categories will receive extra promotion to highly relevant candidates in your area through a special “Urgently Hiring” job category.
- Job posters can add a screening question to filter for applicants who are immediately available to start.
