Before the outbreak of Covid-19, social media teams advocated that social platforms can be more than just an avenue for marketing. They presented user data, showed growth, and served as a great form of brand awareness.

Now with finding a cure for Covid-19 so prevalent they have become a powerful source of news, knowledge, and spread of information amongst peers. Now it has become even more important that your social media strategy is updated to reflect the differences in the way businesses are achieving their goals. Here are some tips from us!

People Are On Social More Than Ever

According to EMarketer, “Facebook saw a 70% increase in usage of all of its apps in the month of March. People are turning to these apps to keep them entertained, connected, and informed while they’re spending more time at home.”

Here are some numbers Facebook released yesterday after posting their 1st quarter results:

  • Daily active users (DAUs): 1.73 billion
  • Monthly active users (MAUs): 2.6 billion
  • Average revenue per user (ARPU): $6.95
  • Earnings (EPS): $1.71
  • Revenue: $17.74 billion

Facebook stated that, after seeing an initial steep decrease in advertising revenue in March due to Covid-19. However, early indications for April look promising as with optimism and caution the economy slowly comes back.

According to TechCrunch, “Facebook’s $17.44 billion in ad revenues makes up the lion’s share of its revenue growth, but the company’s “Other” segment of revenue, which includes various efforts, including its Portal and Oculus hardware business, grew 80% year-over-year to $297 million.”

Now more than ever it is important that your Google business listing is up to date with the latest information. Seeing that it is free to use and essentially gives you free advertising and exposure on Google there is no better reason to have a completed profile.

Whether you’re closing your company temporarily, whether you’re changing the hours you’re open, or offering delivery/pickup, you need to let people know and the most reliable place is Google.
